Dear Team Crusader:
Yes, it is true. Last night Governor Whitmer announced a statewide closure of schools, all schools, from Monday, March 16 to Monday, April 6th. Because our spring break begins on April 6, we would return on Monday, April 13.
Like you, my mind is racing with many questions. I will be meeting with the Leadership Team at 8:30 to wade through as many of the questions possible. With a short day, I want to have answers to many of the questions before you and the students leave. Certainly, there will be more to come later this morning.
Students may ask why we are open. It is fair to say that Public Health of Muskegon County advised that we stay open for our students. There are zero cases of coronavirus in Muskegon County at this time. Out of an abundance of caution we will be closed through Spring Break.
Kids are also likely to ask why we are closing. A fair response is that our Governor believes this is the best choice to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. Slowing down the spread allows our medical experts more time and supplies to treat those that are sick. Closing school is about preventing the spread of this virus.
Additional information will be forwarded to you later this morning. Thank you for your support!
