E-Learning Plan for MCC 7-12

Good Afternoon,

First of all, THANK YOU to all of you for your patience with us today as we held the students back to meet with all of their 4th term teachers and to clean out their lockers.  We truly thought it was vital for this to happen, as many teachers had instructions to provide to your student.

Today, your child should have arrived home with all of the items from their lockers. This means they will have all of their textbooks and Chromebooks home with them, until we return to school on April 13th.

Here at Muskegon Catholic Central, we are very blessed that each student has been provided a Chromebook as e-learning will be a vital tool in order for students to be successful during this extended absence from school.  It will also allow us to keep students academically on track, upon their return.  All teachers will be utilizing Google Classrooms, Google Documents or Moodle to provide assignments and lessons to your student.

Here are the steps that students will need to take, each school day, beginning Wednesday, March 18th.

* Each instructional day (Monday-Friday) your child MUST log in and respond to their 1st block teacher's discussion post - this is how school attendance will be accounted for and how teachers will submit attendance via the PowerSchool system.  This will be done in FIRST BLOCK only.

     ***NOTE: this does not have to happen at 8:00 am that day, but does need to occur between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm each school day, beginning Wednesday, March 18th.

     ***This does NOT mean students only have to complete first block work - this is just the only required attendance tracking that we will be taking.

* Teachers will each be unique in their instruction and students should pay attention to each of their requirements.

      - - Some teachers will require students to log on to a video chat at their normal class time, while others will require students to participate in a discussion or classroom notes/assignments between the hours of 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

* Students WILL still receive grades on assignments, tests and/or quizzes that are provided to them, and will be expected to turn these assignments back in to their teachers via google classroom or other online tools by the assigned time in order to receive credit.  

If your child has any technological needs or you do not have internet access, please respond to me via email only at [email protected] as I will not be in the building to respond to a voicemail

If your child is in need of a textbook or e-book and have not yet purchased it for the fourth term, please email Barb Antekeier at [email protected] and she will assist you with this need.

Teachers and coaches are not allowed to meet with students in groups or individually during this mandated time period off campus. Student/teacher interactions are to occur via virtual and online systems only.

We understand this will be a learning process for all involved and we appreciate your patience with us through the next few weeks. I will continue to update you as we receive additional information on this pandemic and how it will affect our faculty, staff and students.
